Support groups can help you in the following areas:

Selfcare

Through work on oneself, the individual feels their own value, which quickly begins to show through the desire to take better care of themselves. This can refer to physical, psychological, emotional, or well-being. A group can encourage the development of healthy habits, which contributes to holistic self-care. By combining work on oneself and participation in a support group, the individual builds a solid foundation for personal well-being and long-term self-care.

Communication

A support group can improve communication skills in a number of ways. Participating in a group allows you to practise expressing your own feelings and thoughts in front of others. The feedback we get from others helps us to develop clear and effective communication.  Since a group is a place where many different opinions are shared, we can learn that communication brings many benefits to our lives. In working within a group, we can learn how to function in life with other people.

Organization

Organisation plays a key role in maintaining mental health by creating a sense of order, predictability and control in our lives. When our lives are organised, everything becomes much clearer, and it makes it easier to deal with things we don't like. Within the group we will often address organisation and how to organise our lives along our own unique lines.  Later, you will be encouraged to apply all this in your life outside the group.

Creativity

Creativity is the driving force that makes our lives better, and when it's not there, we feel empty and fail to see the meaning of life. Developing personal skills, self-knowledge and overcoming limiting beliefs make it possible to achieve better understanding of our own thought processes. This in turn can lead to a new perspective and creative thinking. When an individual establishes inner harmony, he or she is more open to new ideas and is more willing to take risks, often leading to more creative thinking. Creativity will not be enhanced through group drawing, but rather by a wide range of different creative ideas that will start to unfold within the group and in which each of us will gain something useful.

Unwanted patterns

Working on yourself in a group is a powerful tool for identifying and overcoming unwanted patterns in your life. The group provides a safe environment where the individual can open up and receive constructive information in return, which can enable them to reach a new insight. With the support of the group, the individual can explore the roots of unwanted patterns, identify their consequences and develop new, healthier ways of responding.

Relationships

Participating in a group allows you to learn new skills of communication, empathy and understanding, which directly benefits your relationships with your partner, family or friends. Working on oneself helps to improve self-esteem and self-image, which can have a positive impact on relationship dynamics. At the same time, group dynamics also allow learning from the experiences of others and offering and receiving support, which strengthens the ability to build and maintain healthy and fulfilling relationships.

Frequently asked questions

How is the Support Group meeting organised?

First, book an introduction meeting where we will get to know each other individually via the Zoom platform. This helps to facilitate grouping and organising appointments. Later you will receive the available dates for which you can register. We will meet once a week (usually on the same day and time). We will meet the group initially in Velenje, but later we will adapt to the needs of the members. Please do not be late for the meeting or inform us in advance if you will be late or absent. We encourage the group members to be active and to create the atmosphere and the dynamics, as this is the only way to gain the most for themselves.

What can I expect from the support group?
